TEACHING
I have almost ten years of teaching experience , leading and teaching modules on comparative and global politics; federalism; nationalism and secession and British politics.
As well as supervising undergraduate and masters' dissertations, I currently lead three modules:
L4 Comparative Politics
This module gives students an introduction to the comparative method, drawing on a wide selection of cases from around the globe. It covers topics such as, presidential and parliamentary systems, democracy and authoritarianism, electoral systems, political parties, multilevel governance, civil society and the media.
L5 British Politics: Continuity, Change, Crisis
This module takes students on a journey through the corridors of power in the British political system. We study the flexibility of the British Constitution, the similarities and differences between political parties, the outcomes of recent elections, the premierships of the latest leaders and the evolution of devolution across the British state.
L6 Comparative Nationalism, Secession and the Politics of Territory
Exploring the global prominence of debates on nationalism and secession, this final year module provides an in-depth analysis on the latest trends in comparative territorial politics. We examine the lived experiences of nationalism and secession across all continents as well as how states and supranational organisations have sought (or not) to manage issues such as plurinationalism, constitutional change and demands for independent statehood.
