ABOUT
I am Senior Lecturer in Politics at Liverpool John Moores University, UK. Prior to moving to Liverpool in December 2021, I was Lecturer in Politics at Canterbury Christ Church University (2019-2021).
My research largely focuses on comparative territorial politics. I am interested in autonomy and secessionist movements, regional political parties, majority and minority nationalisms, devolution, intergovernmental relations, and the use of autonomy as a tool of conflict resolution.
My interest in these topics piqued after spending a year abroad in Catalonia (as part of my undergraduate degree at the University of Glasgow) in 2008. After completing my degree (2006-2011) I moved to Girona (Catalonia) in 2011 and spent a few years there teaching English before studying a Masters (in Current Democracies: Nationalism, Federalism and Multiculturalism) at the University of Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona (2013-14). Following my masters, I moved to Canterbury in south-east England in 2015 to undertake a PhD (completed in 2019). My thesis charted the evolution of territorial politics in Catalonia and Scotland with a focus on debates on autonomy and independence.
